Aurélie, Lajha, Mathieu, Maura, Oumi et Romain viennent de familles, de villes et de pays différents. Leur jeunesse est ce qui les unit.

Ils et elles se présentent. S’expriment. Écoutent les voix de centaines d’autres jeunes. Les portent et se laissent emporter par elles. Voilà leurs corps propulsés et soutenus par le paysage sonore de dizaines de voix d’autres jeunes issus des quatre coins du monde.

Ils deviennent ambassadeurs et ambassadrices de leur génération. Par le mouvement et l’interaction, elles partent à la recherche de la vulnérabilité et de la force de la jeunesse. Leur interprétation juste, sensible et à fleur de peau apaise les peurs, dissipe la flemme et embrase les espoirs.

Zes performers staan op scène. Ze komen uit verschillende gezinnen, steden en landen. Hun jeugd is wat hen bindt.

Ze stellen zichzelf voor. Ze spreken zichzelf uit. Ze luisteren naar de stemmen van honderden anderen. Ze dragen het geluid van jongeren overal ter wereld.

Zij zijn de ambassadeurs van hun generatie. Via beweging en interactie zoeken ze naar de kwetsbaarheid en de kracht van jong zijn. Hoopvol en strijdvaardig.

Voortgestuwd, gesteund en gedragen door de soundscape van tientallen stemmen van andere jongeren overal ter wereld, verweven tot een universeel geluidstapijt.

Beating Choir / Chœur Battant is een productie tussen het Canadese Théâtre Le Carrousel & het Belgische BRONKS theater voor jong publiek. Drie jongeren uit Quebec gingen een artistieke uitwisseling aan met drie Brusselse jongeren. De voorstelling is een vervolg op het online platform Creative in Solitude dat choreografe en regisseur Zoë Demoustier tijdens de pandemie oprichtte en waar jongeren via een artistieke expressie hun gevoelens konden delen.

Three young Québécers meet three young Flemish people. Together, they speak out for a resilient and perseverant generation.

They look ahead, projecting themselves into the future: Aurélie, Lajha, Mathieu, Maura, Oumi, and Romain break out of the isolation that was imposed on them by the forces of life. They envisage recent months, their humility and uncertainty coloured with the passion of their youth, as a springboard to a world that will reflect them.

What about fate? Do we choose the life we’ll live? Why do we become one person rather than another? What is the turning point? The breaking point? The moment of truth? The body and the words explode, the thirst for life becomes the driving force for the theatrical device, and these six young people take over the entire stage.

Chœur battant/Beating Choir is their hymn to hope and freedom.
