Les Enfants de la Vallée

Depuis que la Vesdre, devenue monstre, est sortie de son lit pour tout engloutir, Camille n’a pas dit un mot.

Elle a comme une pierre coincée au fond de la gorge. Sa colère monte. Avec le fantôme de son chien, Larry, elle réveille la rivière et la questionne : Pourquoi ? Pourquoi la Vesdre est-elle subitement entrée en furie ? Pourquoi et comment l’homme a-t-il dévié son cours et canalisé son débit au fil des siècles? Qui sont Les Enfants de la Vallée ?

Un spectacle entre récit épique, conte onirique et témoignages, qui donne une voix aux enfants qui ont vu et qui veulent raconter. En montant sur scène, ils et elles nous offrent la force de leurs imaginaires pour surmonter les catastrophes. Écoutons-les, coeur battant.

Sinds de Vesder, die zich tot een monster heeft ontpopt, uit haar bedding is gebroken en alles heeft overspoeld, heeft Camille geen woord meer gesproken.

Het is alsof er een steen in haar keel vastzit. Haar boosheid borrelt op. Samen met de geest van haar hond Larry wekt ze de rivier tot leven en hoort haar uit: Waarom? Waarom is de Vesder plotseling in woede uitgebarsten? Waarom en hoe heeft de mens door de eeuwen heen haar loop veranderd en haar stroom in andere banen geleid? En wie zijn De Kinderen van de Vallei?

Een voorstelling die balanceert tussen episch verhaal, droomachtig sprookje en rake getuigenissen, die een stem geeft aan kinderen die iets gezien hebben en dat willen vertellen. Op het podium tonen ze ons de kracht van hun verbeelding, waarmee ze rampen kunnen overwinnen. Laten we, met ons hart in de keel, naar hen luisteren.

It’s like there’s a stone lodged in her throat. Her anger wells up. Accompanied by the ghost of her dog Larry, she awakens the river and interrogates it. Why? Why did the Vesder suddenly break out in anger? Why and how have humans throughout the centuries changed her course and redirected her flow? And who are the Children of the Valley?

A performance that balances between epic story, dreamlike fairy-tale and striking testimony, giving a voice to children who have witnessed something and want to talk about it. On stage, they show us the power of their imagination, which is strong enough to overcome disaster. Let’s listen to them with our hearts in our throats.
